HIPPO Health Pine and Pollen Allergy Remedy Bottle
HIPPO Pine & Pollen product image

Reactions to pine and grass pollens can result in a chronic cough and wheeze as well as a nasal discharge in some cases. Some horses also break out in welts. Hippo’s Pine & Pollens remedy supports the natural immune system response to airborne allergens, desensitising to the local airborne pine and grass pollens.

Each food-grade 70ml Aluminium bottle with serum pump lid contains 180 doses (2 pumps per dose). You can also buy in 1 litre, 2 litre and 5 litre jerry cans to dose the whole herd via the water trough or on feed.

How do I dose my horse?
Our 70ml Aluminium remedies have a small pump for hygienic, simple and accurate dosing. You can pump the drops straight into your horse’s mouth (they will like the taste) or you can pump the drops on to a treat such as a piece of carrot.

For Jerry Cans  A dose is measured using either the cap from the Jerry Can or the dosing pump (supplied free with all 5 litre products)

How often should I dose my Horse?

Dose - 70ml Aluminium bottles: 2 pumps into the mouth, twice a day for 7 days.  Repeat as needed. In acute cases where rapid relief is needed, give 2 pumps every half hour for up to 4 doses, then dose 2 times a day, easing off as condition improves.

Dose - 1 litre,  2 litre and 5 litre Jerry Cans: Tip 1 capful (or 1 pump) into the trough each day for the first 4 days. Then repeat twice weekly to maintain. OR tip 1/2 capful  (or 1/2 pump) on to feed daily.

Is it safe to give this remedy long term?   Yes, this remedy can be continued long term.

Question: Is it okay to keep dosing our allergic horses twice daily long term or do they need to be weaned off the remedy after a month or so?
Answer:  You can keep dosing as long as needed. We have a lot of clients whose horses have been on daily dosing of Pine and Pollen for years with no lessening of effect. This applies to all of our products for environmental allergens including pollens, mosquitos and dust.

Question: Why do some other Hippo Health products advise to reduce or stop dosing to avoid the horse becoming desensitised?
Answer:  Remedies for bacterial or viral problems should only be on a daily dosing regime until the matter is resolved.  The dosing should then either stop or be reduced to a maintenance dose such as once a week or once a month.  Stopping or reducing the doses maintains the immune system’s natural response to the remedy when dealing with a bacterial or viral pathogen.
