    We offer several payment options such as PayPal and Credit Cards including VISA and Master Card debit cards. We also offer ShopPay, AfterPay and LayBuy options. New Zealand customers can do a Direct Credit to bank account 12-3039-0282256-01, ASB Bank, Goodings Laboratory Limited. We do not accept international bank transfers.

    You can pay using your credit card or you can use PayPal by one of two methods:

    1. Link a bank account to a PayPal account OR

    2. Link a debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express card) to a PayPal account.

    Shipping & Returns FAQ

    Yes, we ship all over the world. Shipping costs will apply, and will be added at checkout. We run discounts and promotions all year, so stay tuned for exclusive deals.

    We ship worldwide. Products are not sold in stores outside of New Zealand. We use DHL Express and NZ Post airmail and ship worldwide every weekday with a targeted delivery time of 2-6 working days for DHL and 6-10 working days for NZ Post to get to your destination.  

    We use Pass the Parcel Couriers for NZ and it usually gets there within 2-5 business days. There is no surcharge for rural delivery.

    Any orders that come in before 10am are shipped that day, otherwise on the next working day.

    NZ orders are tracked and we will send the tracking code via email.  Worldwide orders sent via DHL Express are tracked but those sent via NZ Post are not except by special arrangement and higher shipping fees.

    We have shipped remedies to Europe, Australia and America by air and sea without problems.

    It depends on where you are. Orders processed here will take 5-7 business days to arrive. Overseas deliveries can take anywhere from 7-16 days. Delivery details will be provided in your confirmation email.

    We use Pass the Parcel and NZ Post for NZ orders. For overseas orders we use  DHL Express and NZ Post airmail and ship worldwide every weekday. You’ll be asked to select a delivery method during checkout.

    Refunds FAQ

    We want your experience dealing with HIPPO to be a happy one. Part of that is for you to be satisfied with the results of using our products.

    If you feel that a product is not working to your satisfaction, please give us the opportunity to help you to get it to work properly.

    Preferably try the product for 2 weeks because many remedies do not work instantly, then email us so we know you are concerned. We will be in touch with you as soon as possible and see if we can help you to get the product working satisfactorily.  If you are not satisfied after a further 2 weeks, we will be happy to refund the purchase price of the product and the freight.

    Unfortunately we do not refund incorrectly selected products, so if you are unsure which product suits your needs, please contact us via email. 

    Competition Safe FAQ

    Yes our Hippo Health remedies are safe and suitable for all life stages including mares in foal and lactating mares. The formulation is homeopathic in a veg glycerine/water base. Our People remedies can be dispensed in an alcohol base if requested.

    Racing stables are very keen on this product as it does not test positive. It contains only homeopathic remedies in a base of vegetable glycerine and purified water. There are many reports online of racehorses being swabbed and testing negative having been dosed with homeopathics prior to the race. Clearly the rules of racing do not permit speed altering substances of any form on race day but from a technical perspective we guarantee our Hippo Health products are undetectable in testing. By way of interest, a lot of Olympians, like Usain Bolt use homeopathy and the World Anti-Doping Agency classifies homeopathics as free from restriction unless they have been made from banned substances. 

    No, our Hippo Health remedies are homeopathic and are not detectable by swab test.

    Dosing FAQ

    Homeopathic remedies have effect when they come into contact with a mucous membrane such as the tongue and lips. The remedy is registered almost immediately by the body.

    So long as the remedy comes into contact with a mucous membrane, the actual size/volume of the dose has little importance.

    To increase the rate of action from a homeopathic remedy, you repeat the dose more frequently, for example going from 1 dose a day, to 2 or 3 doses a day.

    Some remedies are suitable for going into a water trough. This means that every time a horse or other animal takes a drink, their mouth is in contact with the remedy (medicated trough water) and they receive a dose. 

    Each 90ml bottle holds at least 230 pumps which is enough to dose twice daily for a minimum of 45 days. Our 90ml aluminium bottle remedies have a small pump for hygienic, simple and accurate dosing. One dose is 2 pumps of the bottle.

    The most common dosing regime is twice daily and the dose can be given directly into the mouth or on a treat such as a piece of carrot or bread. If it is difficult to administer the 2 doses morning and night/afternoon, then the 2 doses can be given half an hour apart. Once improvement has been noted, you can reduce the frequency of doses.
    Because this is a homeopathic formulation, it is the repetition of the dose that builds an effect, rather than the volume of a single dose. Homeopathic remedies are not tabulated to body weight. 

    A water trough dose is measured as either 1 capful or 1 pumpful (25ml). Each litre of remedy provides enough to dose one trough (up to 500 litres) for 3 months, based on standard dosing regimes. A dispensing pump is supplied free with all 5L jerry cans but can also be purchased on our website if you prefer using a pump dispenser on your 1 or 2L jerry cans.

    Dosing Regime: Tip 1 capful (or 1 pump) of remedy into the water trough daily every second day. Once the problem has been resolved, reduce frequency to a maintenance dose of 1 capful (or 1 pump) each week. 
    Note: where daytime temperatures reach above 30 degrees Celsius you may need to dose the water trough every day as the remedy may deteriorate more quickly in the high temperatures.

    Benefits of Dosing a water trough:
    Dosing a water trough is a very easy and economical to treat a single horse, or the whole herd.
    Once the trough is dosed, your horse/herd will receive a dose each time they drink from it.
    Our remedies are non-toxic and will not harm other animals who drink from the trough. There is also no risk of overdosing if you have to estimate water volumes.

    Pump bottles offer a concentrated, single-dose approach whereas remedies in jerry cans are better for continual dosing and offer more economical coverage if you are dosing multiple horses. It’s not about which one is better, it’s about choosing the format that works best for your horse and your approach to their care. We’ve written this blog post to help customers decide which format is right for them.

    We know it’s tempting – and seems more cost effective – to do this BUT you will find the remedy is less effective or that you don’t get the results you need. Our jerry can remedies are designed around frequent drinks from a treated trough or from mouthfuls of dosed feed, so the jerry can contents are not as concentrated as the remedy in our pump bottles which deliver a single potent dose. Read this blog post to find out more about the difference between our pump bottle and jerry can formats.

    If you wish to give a dose directly into the mouth but only have a jerry can, then measure 5ml per dose and dispense on to tongue or gums using a syringe or spoon. Most horses love the taste and will lick it off a spoon. Please refer to the product label for advice on how frequently to dose as this will vary depending on the product’s purpose.

    Yes you can pour half a capful of remedy on top of the feed but don't mix it in.  

    Yes it's fine to combine our remedies in a trough. A common scenario is someone dosing their troughs with Ticks Plus, Sweet Itch Plus and Sol Plus right through summer with each remedy doing its job.

    Our remedies are field tested in 500L water troughs and 1 capful is sufficient for this volume. If you have a 1000L trough you should dose with 2 capfuls/pumps (50ml)

    The unusual thing about using a homeopathic product is that unlike herbal extracts where you have to be precise with dilution ratios, homeopathic remedies disperse through the water via the hydrogen molecules and medicate all the water within at least a cubic meter, yet this transference does not affect the potency, the treated trough water remains at the same strength as the original remedy that was added to it. Farmers love Hippo remedies because it is such a cheap and easy way to dose a herd. You also do not need to empty and refill the bath between doses to get rid of any homeopathic residue as the sunlight destroys homeopathics after 3 days.

    To use our remedies as a preventative or as a maintenance dose, we recommend dosing once a week, or twice a month if the risk of symptoms occurring is low. This will avoid the risk of becoming desensitised to the remedy.

    We have found that putting a zinc block into a medicated trough can inhibit the effectiveness of a remedy.

    Yes it is safe for horses with ulcers.

    General Product Usage FAQ

    Our Hippo Health products have a 2 year expiry at dispatch. However they do need to be  stored correctly, away from direct sunlight and at temperatures lower than 40 degrees celsius.

    There is no need to refrigerate the remedies, but avoid leaving them in the sun as homeopathic remedies should not be heated above 40 degrees Celsius.

Our products are not intended to replace a one-on-one relationship with your, or your animal's health care professional, nor are we claiming to treat serious health conditions.
